The PGA TOUR's Champions Tour Announces Administaff as Title Sponsor for Houston Tournament
Champions Tour comes back to Houston
HOUSTON (April 14, 2004) – Houston-based Administaff, Inc. (NYSE: ASF), has signed a three-year agreement as the Title Sponsor of the Champions Tour at Augusta Pines, the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour event to be held annually in Houston, tournament officials announced today. The event will be called the Administaff Small Business ClassicSM.
After a 10-year absence, the Champions Tour is coming back to Houston, to the Augusta Pines Golf Club. This year’s event will be held October 4-10, 2004 and will be broadcast on The Golf Channel.
The Administaff Small Business Classic is breaking new ground for Administaff and the small business community across the nation by bringing some of professional golf’s most recognizable names to Houston for a premier Champions Tour event.
Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw and John Mahaffey are just a few of the big names expected to play in the Administaff Small Business Classic that includes a $1.6 million purse. President George H. W. Bush will serve as Honorary Chairman for this year’s tournament. Approximately 100,000 spectators are expected to head to Augusta Pines throughout the week to catch a glimpse of the 78 Champions Tour professionals.
Proceeds from the Administaff Small Business Classic will benefit charities including The George and Barbara Bush Foundation for Innovative Cancer Research at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, The First Tee Program of Houston and Golfers Against Cancer.

About Augusta Pines Golf Club
Augusta Pines is an 18-hole golf course designed by Tour 18, Inc. The facility features a state-of-the-art practice facility, including six target greens, two pitching/chipping greens and sand bunkers. The course negotiates mature pines, dogwoods and oaks. The fairways and tees are Baby Bermuda grass, while the greens feature TifEagle. The dramatic finishing holes are back-to-back island greens, the par-3 17th and par-5 18th. A total of 30 acres of lakes come into play on 11 of the 18 holes. |
