The PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour Announces KBR As Presenting Sponsor for Houston Tournament
Administaff Small Business Classic presented by KBR
HOUSTON (July 8, 2004) – KBR has signed a three-year agreement as the Presenting Sponsor of the Administaff Small Business Classic, the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour event to be held annually in Houston. KBR is the engineering, construction and services subsidiary of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL).
After a 10-year absence, the Champions Tour is coming back to Houston, to the Augusta Pines Golf Club. This year’s event will be held October 4 – 10, 2004 and will be broadcast on The Golf Channel. “KBR is pleased to support the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour and we welcome it back to Houston,” said Randy Harl, president and CEO of KBR.
Arnold Palmer, Raymond Floyd, Lee Trevino, Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw and John Mahaffey are just a few of the big names expected to play in the Administaff Small Business Classic presented by KBR and compete for the $1.6 million purse. President George H. W. Bush will serve as Honorary Chairman for this year’s tournament. More than 100,000 spectators are expected to head to Augusta Pines throughout the week to catch a glimpse of the 78 Champions Tour professionals.

Proceeds from the Administaff Small Business Classic presented by KBR will benefit charities including The George and Barbara Bush Endowment for Innovative Cancer Research at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, The First Tee Program of Houston and Golfers Against Cancer.

The Champions Tour is one of the PGA TOUR's three professional golf tours (PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour), and features the world's premier golfers age 50 and up. The Champions Tour will play 30 official Charles Schwab Cup tournaments for almost $53 million in 2004. Tour events generate significant sums of money for charity.
